the iPad. The global manufacturer of mobile phones in Finland, Nokia, submitted a petition to the U.S. Federal Court in Madison, Wisconsin and filed 5 patent infringement lawsuits against Apple. Nokia asserted that “iPad constitutes infringement on their patent rights related to call quality, data transfer and the improvement of antenna function.” In a written statement, Nokia announced that their infringed patent relates to a technology which played an important role in Nokia’s success by improving the capacity and the design of products. The Financial Times of England reported that Apple had no immediate response. Since the iPad was launched on last March, against iPad, EMG Technology in U.S.A. has filed a lawsuit on the grounds of infringement of an internet search technology and Elan Microelectronics Corporation in Taiwan has consecutively filed lawsuits on the grounds of infringement of touch screen technology.
